Microchips have become a strategic product in today’s landscape. They are not only high-tech products but have truly become essential components for all industrial goods, from civilian to military applications. Currently, new opportunities have emerged for the development of the semiconductor chip industry in Vietnam. The advantages of a population of 100 million people and the government’s digital transformation focus create favorable conditions for the semiconductor chip market.
Vietnam also has several favorable factors to increase its position in the global semiconductor supply chain. These factors include its geographical location and close relationships with semiconductor powerhouses such as the US, South Korea, and Japan.
Currently, we need to focus on chip design and chip application stages. While Vietnam has been developing IC design for a long time, it has primarily remained at the processing stage. There hasn’t been a technical team operating at the level of system architects who can master the complete product. Therefore, specific guidance and government support are necessary to steer the microchip industry in the right direction and elevate it to new heights in the near future.
domestic needs but also addressing international demands. The goal is to become a hub and an IC design center for the region and the world. Currently, there is a wave of investment and collaboration in training chip design engineers in Vietnam, with participation from major corporations such as Apple, Samsung, and Synopsys. The demand for chip design engineers is substantial, and career opportunities in the semiconductor IC field are forecasted to grow significantly over the next decade.
